Announcing our new president, Phyllis R. Caldwell!

By Lisa Kays on November 28th, 2007

The Board of Directors and Staff of Washington Area Women’s Foundation are pleased to announce Phyllis Caldwell as our new President.

Phyllis comes to us from Bank of America where she was President of Community Development Banking. She has broad professional experience in creating pathways of opportunity for low-income people and communities.

A philanthropist in her own right, Phyllis is a member of the Washington 100 and shares our fundamental belief in the Power of Giving Together.

View our press release to learn more about Phyllis’ background and her personal commitment to investing in women and girls.

Please join us in welcoming Phyllis as The Women’s Foundation enters our tenth anniversary year!

    Phyllis,

Congratulations on your new position – it sounds great! You left sooner than I anticipated and so I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye, or thank you. I wanted to let you know that I appreciated what you did for me during our time together on the Community Development Banking team, and that I was sorry to see you leave.

I hope that you and your family have a wonderful holiday season.

    Take care,

    Dave

We miss Phyllis immeasurably here at Bank of America, and we all know how lucky you are to bring in someone of her talent. I expect to hear great things!

As you already know, The Women’s Foundation holds special place in the hearts of many in the region, so I’m delighted to know that the ship has a new captain who understands her well. My hat is off to Rubie and Lori for shepherding the selection process and to Marjorie who has done an amazing job keeping all the pieces together and moving forward. You have great folks to work with. I look forward to meeting you soon.

As for myself , I do alot of work in the Health and Technology arena which included a pre-natal and dental mobile unit [ Mama & Baby Bus] and around other woman issues such as Teen pregancy, prematurity, infant mortality, breast , cervical and ovarian cancer, diabetes , HIV-AID and asthma etc. I look forward to working with you as your foundation tackle these critical health issues affecting women in the metropolitan area…Once again Congratulation !

  19. Danielle Slimak Says:

    Welcome Phyllis and Congratulations!
Now that you are also leading the Treasury Department’s homeownership preservation office maybe you can help some of us who have to deal with Bank of America for our Loan Modifications. I have been trying to get mine since April. BAC recieved the biggest bail out of any mortgage company in the US. Yet they seem to have no interest in helping us homeowners keep our houses. My house is scheduled for sheriff sale in February and I can’t even speak directly to the person handling my file. I realize I am nobody to you, but there are a lot of us out here. I hope you really crack down of these Mortgage companies ASAP! I am also sending this to Gov. Ted Strickland and my Senator.
    Thanks,
    Danielle Slimak
