Stepping Stones:  Step by Step Success of a 10-Year Initiative

Washington Area Women’s Foundation invites you to join us for a lunchtime briefing on Stepping Stones, a multi-year, regional initiative focused on building the long-term financial independence and economic security of low-income, women-headed families by addressing interdependent needs that trap them in a cycle of poverty.

To address these needs, Stepping Stones creates and supports:

• financial education and wealth creation opportunities;
• pathways to self-sufficient jobs and business ownership;
• affordable child care and early education options; and,
• improvements in health and safety.

Come learn firsthand about the answers to the key questions we’ve received over the past year:

• Design and Fundraising: How did we raise over $5 million from a diverse portfolio of investors?
• Strategies: How did we expand our investment through community education and engagement; grantmaking and technical assistance; and, advocacy and leadership development?
• Grantmaking: How will we make $2 million in direct grants by June 2007?
• Evaluation and Learning: How are we measuring outcomes and building the capacity of our Grantee Partners to evaluate their programs?
