WUSA9 Anchor Lesli Foster To Emcee Washington Area Women’s Foundation Leadership Luncheon
WUSA9 Weeknight Anchor Emcees Annual Luncheon Benefiting Washington Region Women and Girls
August 3, 2016 – Lesli Foster has been named emcee for the 2016 Leadership Luncheon of the Washington Area Women’s Foundation, the only donor-supported, public foundation solely dedicated to building economic security for women and girls in the Washington D.C. metro area. The Luncheon is The Women’s Foundation’s premiere fundraiser that supports the one in four women in the Washington region living below 200 percent of the federal poverty line.
Lesli Foster is an award-winning journalist and mainstay of Washington news as a Weeknight Anchor for WUSA9. Known for her warmth, and ability to share impactful stories that have an affect on our wider community, she thrives on work that touches everyday living.
“We are thrilled that Lesli will serve as this year’s Leadership Luncheon emcee. She has been an advocate for the Foundation, since attending her first Luncheon a few years ago, and she champions many issues in the Washington region, including those that affect women and girls,” said Jennifer Lockwood-Shabat, President and CEO, Washington Area Women’s Foundation. “We believe Lesli’s presence and voice will best narrate the compelling stories of impact we plan to share during this year’s program.”

About Lesli Foster
Lesli Foster is an award-winning journalist and mainstay of Washington news as a Weeknight Anchor for WUSA9 evening broadcasts Monday through Friday. She also heads the WUSA9 Consumer Unit covering major consumer issues that affect area residents through digital, audio, and social media. Lesli joined the station in 2001 and has covered the major events of our times across the area. Lesli graduated from Howard University and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She gives her energy to many causes throughout the metropolitan Washington, DC region, and in 2012 Lesli started an event called “Girlfriends Give Back” which helps raise funds for a different small, but impactful charity from the area each year.
