Launched in December 2004, the African American Women’s Giving Circle has chosen a place-based approach to its grantmaking. It seeks to develop a partnership with community-based organization(s) in the District of Columbia. Priority areas are connecting African American girls and women to opportunities to:

• Earn income, gain financial literacy, appreciate entrepreneurial opportunity, and build financial assets;
• Understand and use technology in the personal and collective interest; and
• Network within and outside the communities, and be exposed to successful women and girls.

The AAWCG does not accept unsolicited proposals.
