Leadership Awards Overview and Recipients
Washington Area Women’s Foundation’s Leadership Awards recognize and honor community-based organizations that help women, girls and their families achieve economic and physical security, enhance health and well being, and secure education and leadership opportunities. In making these awards, The Women’s Foundation reaches out aggressively to neighborhoods throughout the region to identify and highlight organizations that demonstrate vision, innovation, and effectiveness. The Leadership Awards focus on programs that serve low-income women and girls, celebrating organizations with strong leadership that have leveraged community support for greater impact.
Since 1998, Washington Area Women’s Foundation has awarded more than $300,000 to more than 55 organizations in the District of Columbia, Montgomery and Price George’s counties in Maryland, and in Alexandria, Arlington, and Fairfax counties in Virginia. In addition to financial support, Leadership Awardees benefit from networking opportunities and customized technical assistance.
