Washington Area Women’s Foundation Names New Board Chair, Officers and Members

Beth Johnson of RP3 Agency to Lead Board; Graham Holdings’ Pinkie Mayfield and The Coca-Cola Company’s Kate Rumbaugh Join Board

WASHINGTON, DC (June 10, 2015) – Beth Johnson has been named the chair of the board of Washington Area Women’s Foundation, the only donor-supported, public foundation solely dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls in the Washington D.C. metro area. Johnson, is the Principal and CEO at RP3 Agency, a Bethesda based branding and advertising agency. She is a longtime supporter of The Women’s Foundation and previously served on the board of directors as the development committee co-chair. She will start her term on July 1, 2015.

“Having served with Beth on The Women’s Foundation’s board for the past six years, I have seen her deep dedication to serving our region’s vulnerable women and girls. Her leadership and strong desire to transform communities makes her an ideal choice for board chair,” says outgoing board chair, Carolyn Berkowitz, Managing Vice President Community Affairs at Capital One, and President of Capital One Foundation.

Prior to founding RP3 Agency, Johnson led the growth of Rosenthal Partners from a three-person creative boutique into one of the region’s largest, most successful agencies. “I am very excited to be part of a dedicated team with such an important mission and commitment to impact and data-driven grantmaking,” Beth Johnson said.

The Women’s Foundation also named Diara M. Holmes, Partner, Loeb & Loeb LLP as board secretary and Rosie Allen-Herring, President and CEO, United Way of the National Capital Area as treasurer. They have both been board members since 2013. Pinkie Dent Mayfield, Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Special Assistant to the Chairman, Graham Holdings Company, and Kate Rumbaugh, Group Director, Government and Public Affairs, The Coca-Cola Company were also announced as new board members. They will serve three year terms through June 2018.
